The Records Bureau’s Criminal History Records Repository collects and maintains criminal history record information and systematically maintains supporting documentation concerning adult offenders that have been charged with committing crimes in the State of Nevada. This includes misdemeanor offenses, gross misdemeanor offenses and felony offenses. Traffic charges are not indexed in Nevada criminal history. The only exception is the offense of driving under the influence (DUI), which can escalate to a felony.
The criminal history information is supported by the submission of arrest fingerprint cards collected at the time of arrest by Nevada law enforcement agencies and submitted via mail or fingerprint live scan systems to the Criminal History Records Repository. Each time a person is arrested, the fingerprints are compared to existing records. All arrest fingerprint cards are kept and maintained in repository files until such time as the Repository is informed by a fingerprint card submission that the subject is deceased or is informed of a court order to seal a criminal history record.
