Division Administrator Julie Butler began her career with the State of Nevada in March 1994.  She worked for the State Budget Division (now the Governor’s Office of Finance), the State Purchasing Division, the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety, and the Nevada Department of Corrections, before moving to the Department of Public Safety’s Records and Technology Division in 2006.

In 2008, Ms. Butler was promoted to Records Bureau Chief, having managerial oversight of the Criminal History Repository, State Sex Offender Registry, Firearms Point of Contact Unit, Training and Auditing Unit, and the Uniform Crime Reporting program.  Ms. Butler served as Records Bureau Chief until July 2013, when the Nevada State Legislature created the department’s General Services Division.  Ms. Butler was appointed as the Administrator of the new division, which is responsible for the Records Bureau, the department’s communications centers in Carson City, Elko and Las Vegas, and a statewide Warrants Unit.

Ms. Butler holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Nevada, Reno.  Ms. Butler serves as the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s CJIS Systems Officer (CSO) for the State of Nevada.  She also serves as the Chairperson of the Western Identification Network’s Board of Directors and is the Governor’s appointee to SEARCH, the National Consortium for Justice Information and Statistics.  Ms. Butler also serves on the Nevada Attorney General’s Domestic Violence Fatality Review Statewide Team.
